Likeness & Synthetic Media Policy
Effective: July 26, 2026 (v1.0)
Demades lets people generate video with AI. That makes it possible for someone to create video of a person who never agreed to appear in it. This page is our rule against that, and — more importantly — the way to get such content removed.
You do not need a Demades account to use this page. If you appear in something on Demades and did not consent, the removal request below is open to you.
What is not allowed
These are prohibited outright. They are enforced when content is generated and when it is reported, not merely stated here.
- Deceptive impersonation of a real person. Video presenting a real person as saying or doing something they did not, in a way meant to be taken as real. Clearly-labelled parody, commentary and satire are permitted.
- Nonconsensual intimate content. Sexual or intimate imagery of a real person without their consent. There is no permitted version of this.
- Another person's face, voice or body without authorization. Uploading or generating a real person's likeness requires that you are that person or have their permission.
- A child's likeness in unsafe or inappropriate content. Depicting a minor in sexual, violent, or otherwise unsafe or exploitative content. There is no permitted version of this.
- Deceptive political impersonation. Video impersonating a candidate, official or election authority in a way that could mislead people about who said what, how to vote, or whether an event occurred.
- Copyrighted media you do not have the rights to. Footage, music, images or voice recordings you neither own nor are licensed to use.
Consent is required before an upload, not after
Before anyone can upload an image, a voice recording, or a video that shows a real person, Demades requires an explicit on-the-record confirmation that they have the rights and the person's permission. The confirmation is recorded with the upload — the exact wording agreed to, by whom, and when. An upload without it is refused; it is not a warning that can be dismissed.
Uploads that show a real person are also reviewed before they can be used, and generation requests that appear to involve any of the prohibited categories above are held for human review rather than run. A held request has not been rejected — a person looks at it.
Reporting content that uses your likeness
Anyone can report, including someone with no Demades account.
If you have an account: use the Report action on the video or comment and choose "Uses someone's likeness without consent." This is the fastest route — it goes straight into our review queue.
If you do not have an account, or the content is not publicly listed: email [email protected] with the subject line "Likeness removal request" and include:
- A link to the content, or enough description for us to identify it (a share link, the title, or the creator's name).
- A statement that you are the person depicted, or that you are authorized to act for them — and, if you are acting for someone else, your relationship to them.
- A statement that you did not consent to appear in this content.
- A way to reach you for follow-up.
You do not need to identify yourself publicly, and we do not publish the identity of a person who reports content depicting them. We may need to verify that you are the person depicted before removing content, and we will ask for the least information that lets us do so.
Do not send us intimate images of yourself to prove a report. Describe the content and link to it; that is enough.
What we do about it
- We acknowledge every likeness report. You will get a reply, not silence.
- Reports of nonconsensual intimate content or content depicting a minor are handled first, and the content is made unavailable while we review it. We do not leave that category up pending an investigation.
- Other likeness reports are reviewed by a person, who can remove the content, make it private, or restrict the account that published it.
- Removal means removal. Content taken down under this policy is made unavailable on Demades, including its public page and any shared link.
- Repeat violations end accounts. An account that repeatedly publishes other people's likenesses without permission is terminated.
If your content was removed
If you believe your content was removed in error, reply to the notice you received or email [email protected]. Tell us why you believe you had the rights and consent to use the likeness. A person will review it.
